ClareOwner / Manager
I came to Smiley Faces in 2013 after many years’ experience in senior positions involving people leadership, business management and marketing. I enjoy supporting both teachers and children to learn and thrive.
I hold a BA(Hons), a Post-grad Diploma in Business Studies, a Company Director’s Certificate, a Grad Diploma in Teaching (ECE), and a current First Aid certificate.
Murray and I have two children, Grace and Christopher who are in their teenage years. We enjoy active holidays and supporting our children in their passions and interests.
I joined Smiley Faces in August 2015 after many years teaching in Rotorua. After 3 years leading the Tuakana/Preschool programme here, I took over the leadership of the Teina/Nursery programme in 2018. I enjoy building relationships with children, parents and my peers. As a Tongan, I bring a deep respect for Te Reo and Pacific cultures. I have a Degree in Teaching (ECE) and a current First Aid Certificate.
I am a Registered ECE Teacher with a Certificate of Equivalence (Diploma of Teaching) and a current First Aid Certificate. I started with Playcentre before taking a position as Supervisor with this Centre and have enjoyed many years working with all age groups of children.
I am married to Murray and we have 3 adult children and many grandchildren. I enjoy gardening, yoga, and spending time with family.
I completed my Degree in Early Childhood Teaching in 2014. I was given the opportunity to join the Smiley Faces team in November 2016. I have two teenage children. We have many different animals in our family, ranging from the household cats to the chickens at the paddock. I enjoy outdoor activities and spending time with my horses. I also hold a current First Aid Certificate.
I have been at Smiley Faces since 2015 and I have a special interest in the way children think and process the world around them. I live in Upper Hutt and enjoy learning languages, especially Japanese. In 2016 I spent time in Germany as an Au Pair. During 2020 I will complete my Bachelor of Teaching (ECE) through the NZ Tertiary College and become a Registered Teacher. I hold a current First Aid Certificate.
I grew up in Rotorua and completed my Graduate Diploma in ECE through Victoria University. Before teaching, I practised as a nurse. I enjoy walking, dancing, and travelling. I do not have any children of my own, however I am looking forward to fostering children in the future. I hold a current First Aid Certificate.
I am originally from Wellington and moved to Upper Hutt in 2018. I completed a Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Teaching in 2010. I also hold a current First Aid Certificate.
I joined Smiley Faces in October 2018 and am enjoying the environment here including working with the teachers, whānau and children. I married in 2019 and have 2 step-children. I love swimming, walking, reading and playing the ukelele.
I joined Smiley Faces in 2016 as Cook/Assistant Teacher and I have previously worked as a chef for many years. In 2019 I completed my Degree in Teaching (ECE) and became a Registered Teacher in the Tuakana/Pre-school team. I hold Food Safety Certificates, and a First Aid Certificate. In 2018 I supported the centre to achieve a Healthy Heart Award from the Heart Foundation and introduced laying hens to our centre.
My husband, daughter and I, along with our fur-babies, moved to Upper Hutt from Lower Hutt (where I grew up) in 2016. I joined the Smiley Faces team in May 2019. I am definitely enjoying working close to home and in this community. I love working with such a great team, as well as getting to know all the Tamariki and their Whānau.
My background is in Administration/Office Management, and I also worked at an After school care for many years , so Smiley Faces has given me the best of both worlds.
In my spare time you’ll often find me out walking our dog Jezzy, getting creative & arty, and spending time with family/friends.
I am Anna and I joined Smiley Faces in 2020. This role combines my two passions of cooking and children, so I am delighted to take on this new challenge. Before coming to Smiley Faces I spent a year working in ECE centres in my home town of Fielding.
